Cameroon Reaffirms Commitment to Digital Economy and Digitalization at the 2025 ADEX
The assertion was made by Minister Minette Libom Li Likeng, representing Prime Minister Joseph Dion Ngute, Head of Government, during the opening ceremony of the 14th edition of the African Digital Expo Forum (ADEX).
The forum, held from July 15-16, 2025, at the Krystal Hotel in Douala, was placed under the distinguished patronage of the Prime Minister, Head of Government.

The forum, themed "Digital Dynamics: A New Pact for the Future," serves as a strategic platform for Africa's digital sector, providing a unique opportunity for stakeholders to share experiences, showcase local innovations, and co-create a unified vision for the continent's digital future.
the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications, Minette Libom Li Likeng, representing the Prime Minister, reaffirmed Cameroon's determination to reinforce its digital ecosystem and foster an inclusive and competitive digital economy. She emphasized that the forum's holding in Cameroon is a strong signal of the country's commitment to digital development.
While acknowledging the challenges posed by digital technologies, such as digital inclusion, training, and competence development, digital sovereignty, data governance, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and finance, Minister Libom Li Likeng highlighted the strides made by the government in this field. These include establishing a regulatory framework for digital transformation, developing digital infrastructure nationwide, capacity building for public and private actors, promoting an inclusive digital economy, just to name a few.
Given the rapidly evolving nature of the digital sector, the Minister stressed the importance of a forward-thinking approach to achieve Cameroon's emergence goals by 2035. She emphasized the need for all stakeholders to rally behind the National Development Strategy 2020-2030, which aims to restructure the sector and strengthen public policy management.
In conclusion, she underscored the significance of embracing digital technology and leveraging its opportunities to foster inclusion, enhance African inter-country collaboration, and drive sustainable economic development across the continent.
ADEX 2025: A Collective Effort
One Africa Forums CEO, Mrs. Hind Sidqui, noted that ADEX 2025 is launched with ambition and humility, recognizing that digital technology is a collective concern. She emphasized that the transformation desired by all can only be achieved through unity and faith in our capacities. As a token of appreciation for President Paul Biya's efforts in promoting digital sovereignty in Cameroon and Africa, a special Excellence Prize from One Africa Forums was awarded to him, received by Minister Libom Li Likeng on his behalf.
Visit to ST Digital's New-Generation Data Centre
Prior to the forum, Minister Libom Li Likeng visited ST Digital's New-Generation Data Centre in Bonandjo on July 14, 2025. The visit aimed to assess the infrastructure and technical capabilities of this strategic facility, which plays a crucial role in Cameroon's digital economy. The Minister appreciated the infrastructure in place and emphasized the need for more such high-level facilities in Cameroon, particularly in light of the growing importance of data sovereignty globally. She encouraged them to forge and not to relent in the pursuit of secured data storage.
The ADEX forum brought together prominent figures, including the Governor of the Littoral Region, the Director General of Smart Africa, representatives of diplomatic bodies and international organizations, and personalities from the telecom sector. Participants for the two days engaged in discussions on topics such as digital sovereignty, digital transformation, national digital payment switch infrastructure, data protection, e- government, digital culture and cybersecurity.
