MTN Yello Digital Talent competition, Afopezi Moses of SUP’PTIC Yaounde is the number One

At the prize award ceremony of the MTN Yello Digital Talent Competition organized by MTN Foundation and presided over by Minister Minette Libom Li Likeng, AFOPEZI Moses of SUP’PTIC Yaounde was awarded 2.500.000Fcfa and a computer as winner of the first edition of the competition on March 30th, 2023 at the Cameroon Digital Innovation Centre in Bastos.
 
"Skolarr" is the name of the application that obtained Afopezi Moses of the National Advanced School of Posts, Telecommunications and ICT in Yaounde the number one position at the first edition of the Yello Digital Talent Competition organized by the MTN Foundation under the Patronage of MINPOSTEL. The App which is conceived to help students to better prepare for their competitive exams by providing them with numerous educational resources, scored a total of 89.56/100. 
While presiding over the prize award ceremony of the said competition on March 30th, 2023, Minister Minette LIBOM LI LIKENG believes the youths should not be left out in the Head of State’s prescription on the acceleration of Cameroon’s digital transformation:  “Young innovators therefore have a crucial role to play in this transformation. They often bring innovative and disruptive ideas that have the potential to transform the world.  Hence the importance of supporting young people in ICT with objectives to help them develop their skills, overcome obstacles and reach their full potential. By helping these young people develop their ideas, we can create innovative products and services that have a positive impact in our daily lives thereby creating employment opportunities and help stimulate economic growth” the Minister said.
The New chief executive officer of MTN Cameroon Mitwa Ng’ambi in her welcome address did not hesitate to urge the young participants to dare and strive for there’s still a lot in store coming from MTN to young Cameroonians particularly those in the field of ICT. Same encouragements came from representatives of ITU and UNICEF.
According to Dr. Winfred Mfuh, President of the jury and Technical Adviser No 2 in MINPOSTEL, the herculean task consisted of detecting the best and ready for the market App among the ten regional winners in terms of innovation and originality in solving matters of education in Cameroon. The ranking placed ISSTMADD of Adamaoua second and ISIC in the North third in position with a check of 2.000.000Fcfa and 1.500.000Fcfa respectively and a computer each. Worth mentioning is the fact that each regional winner went home with a 1.000.000Fcfa award.
Launched in December 9th, 2022, the competition seeks to bring State and Private universities, higher learning institutions and colleges with ICT courses from the ten regions of Cameroon into developing applications that will bring solutions to the numerous problems faced by our society.
