Minpostel boss announces15 pre-selected candidates for the National Competition for the Best 2021 ICT Project to begin their journey to the finals on Monday 14th March, 2022.
The Minister of Posts and Telecommunications, Minette Libom Li Likeng has made public a list of 15 pre-selected candidates for the 3rd edition of the National Competition for the Best 2021 ICT Project.
Participation into the competition which was launched last year December 18th was closed at exactly 3:30pm on March 9th 2022, giving room for the pre-selection commission to begin evaluation under well defined criteria for elegibility.
Other than the fact that partiicipants must be of Cameroonian nationality residing within the national territory with a project using ICT, the jury equally had the herculean task of taking into account the level of differentiation of the project innovation in the broad sense, the entire team, the market, the offer, the project's international potential and the job creation potential.
According to the Minister's communique, the short-listed candidates are to report to the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications on Monday 14th March 2022 to begin their journey to the final phase of the competition.
In line with the final phase, it is important to note that the official ceremony of the ICT Innovation Week placed under the Distinguished Patronage of the President of the Republic with theme, "Cybersecurity and Digital Innovation: what challenges for Cameroonian Youth?" will hold on March 18th 2022.
In prelude to this ceremony, weeklong activities will be observed at the Cameroon Digital Innovation Centre (C-DIC) beginning Monday 14th - Wednesday 16th March with a boot camp with the 15 short-listed candidates. March 15th can be termed a "promise keeping day" as the Minister will be presiding through videoconferencing over the activation ceremony of the free one year broadband internet connections offered by the government to the Silicon Mountain Start-ups in Buea and also a public conference. A start-up exhibition day and a meeting with members of the competition's jury will occupy the 16th day of the month of March. Thursday 17th will play host to the reception of the Kenyean Senior Officers Mission and the holding of the final pitch. Friday 18th March 2022 will be the official award ceremony comprised of the Award of the Special Prize of the President of the Republic to the best ICT Project of the year 2021.
As the pre-selected candidates dot their "Is" and cut their "Ts", all hoping to emerge victorious, emphasis is laid on the general presentation of the application, pitch talk and pitch desk, demonstration, the innovative and original nature of the project, its economic viability and roll-out timing.
