The Cameroon Postal Services (Campost), has been revamped to meet up with the demands of the local population within the National Territory. On friday 12th November 2021, The Minister of Posts and Telecommunications, Minette Libom Li Likeng, presided over the double handing-over ceremony of the new post offices and the presentation of equipment and vehicles acquired by the Government for Campost within the framework of the 2019-2021 Plan Contract at the Campost Head office in Yaounde.

While addressing the audience, the Minister acknowledged the necessity for Campost to be given a new life. I quote, "The Cameroon Postal Services is at a turning point. It must imperatively adapt, in order not to become obsolete, whereas it is in competition today with companies of digital generation in different areas of its product portfolio".

According to the General Manager of Campost, Mr. Pierre Kaldadak, these new investments have increased the presence of the postal services on the National Territory, as 6 new localities namely Kon Yambetta and Ebebda in the Centre Region, Lom Pangar ( Ndeng Ndeng) in the East Region, Ma'an and Meyo Centre in the South Region and Bafoussam in the West Region benefited from newly built post offices from the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications, while 12 offices were renovated. From the Plan Contract project, 43 vehicles, 50 motorcycles, a first consignment of 58 out of 330 expected franking machines were received by Campost.

These offices if well exploited, will permit inhabitants of these localities to benefit from basic postal offers such as mails services, financial services (transfer of funds, payment of salaries through current postal accounts, savings, payment of school fees, taxes) and lots more.

While the population is expected to make use of the services already at their disposal, The Minister did not hesitate to encourage Campost to explore new possibilities open to them in terms of new branches of activities such as innovative banking and financial services, e-commerce and urban logistics in a bid to respond to changes in life styles and customer's expectations.
