Another opportunity for SMEs, professionals and individuals to get a digital boost in business
The new site of the Brain-booster coworking space located at EligEssono was inaugurated by the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications, Her Excellency Minette Libom Li Likeng on Wednesday 7th July 2021.
The structure is a melting pot providing small and medium size enterprises, professionals and individuals with a working environment conducive enough for the development and multiplication of opportunities through the digitization of processes and the optimal use of digital tools. It is equally a platform where experiences are shared with the view to better efficiency and productivity.
In her address in the presence of the Director General of Brain-booster, the Representative of the Small and Medium Size Enterprises (SMEs), a host of government officials, startups, directors of private enterprises, the Minister didn't hesitate to mention the International Telecommunications Union's (ITU) recognition of the decisive role of young companies, SMEs and ICT entrepreneurs in ensuring sustainable and inclusive economic through the development of innovative solutions based on ICT, creation of new jobs particularly to youths.
Cognizant of the challenges plaguing the ICT sector especially in the appropriate use of ICTs and uptimal exploitation of digital talents, the Ministry of P&T have put in place a number of programs and mechanisms to take up the challenge such as to promote and popularise ICT, support young people in digital technology, promote Cameroonian startups, empower young people of the informal sector involved in the repairs if mobile phones and other electronic devices and open the Cameroon Digital Innovation Center (C-DIC).
She did not fail to mention the faint involvement of women in the ICT sector as compared to the men which is today presenting two major challenges being economic and societal challenges. It is within this backdrop that the ITU instituted the International Day of the Young Girls in the ICT Sector.
In continuation, Her Excellency congratulated Aurel TAYOU, boss of Brain-booster for her outstanding initiative and leadership in the ICT sector in Cameroon and by extension, to encourage young innovators in the this sector, the Minister announced some initiatives that have been instituted, for example the institutional support to startups, special prizes for the winners of international innovation competitions, support to "tech women" and young female scientists.
To Brain-booster and it's already existing clients, it was indeed timely and a privilege to receive a boost from P&T as in its own way opened the door for the public to get acquainted with the services offered in that digital structure.
