"The Management of Wholesale Customers"
In the Conference Hall of the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications on March 15th 2021,
held the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Cameroon Telecommunications (CAMTEL) and the Cameroon Mobile Telephone Network (MTN).
The signing which falls within the framework of the Head of State's firm instructions, regarding the provision of quality electronic communication services at affordable costs, for the interest of Cameroonian consumers was presided over by Her Excellency the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications, Minette Libom Li Likeng.
According to Her Excellency, the win-win agreement aims at enhancing network assets by selling wholesale tarrifs, inter-conection and lease infrastructure on fixed and mobile networks. It should be noted that CAMTEL and MTN had earlier agreed on the fringes of the regulations. However, with the Minister's recommendations and the recent structural changes in the national electronic communication market, left not only CAMTEL to reconsider it's deployment in this segment but also the two operators to comply with the regulations in force.
To this effect, through this memorandum of understanding, MTN Cameroon undertakes to terminate within four (4) months from the date of signature of this agreement the contracts with the four (4) wholesale customers who are currently in their portfolio and CAMTEL in turn undertakes to provide the customers concerned with a quality level of service at least similar to those previously provided by MTN Cameroon.
Present at the ceremony was the Representative of the Telecommunications Regulator Board, the General Manager of CAMTEL, The Chief Executive Officer of MTN Cameroon, a host of personnel at MINPOSTEL and a cream of press men and women.
